Featured Destination: Julian
About 60 miles east of San Diego is the town of Julian. Stretched out among the pine and oak tree covered hills, Julian is the perfect romantic getaway. Established during the gold rush of the late 1800’s, and once the second largest city in San Diego county, Julian has plenty of old time architecture and small town atmosphere.
Most of the hotels in town are bed and breakfast type, and are perfect for a couple looking to get away for the weekend. Villa De Valor is a nice B&B, set in a historical house and each room a unique setting. It is also within walking distance to the shops and restraints. The Wikiup Bed & Breakfast is located in the woods slightly more remote and offers larger grounds for walks and exploring. With in room spa tubs, fireplaces and private entries, this is a very nice place to visit. The Eaglenest Bed & Breakfast and the Butterfield Bed & Breakfast Inn are also very nice, comfortable settings with everything you need for an enjoyable visit.
Julian has plenty of actives to take part in such as, shopping, hiking, go bicycling for the day, or take a guided tour of a real gold mine. There are also nearby golf courses, health spa, go visit the orchards and try some apple cider or get a nice warm apple pie and even fishing. Or you can tour the town and see all the historical culture that Julian has to offer.
